About Us
Spreading Smiles, a charitable trust based out of Nathupur Gurugram, has been working for the last 10 years for the welfare of 2000+ extremely poor marginalised families of garbage collectors, maids, rickshaw pullers, daily wagers. During this period, we have worked to improve facilities such as renovating toilets, drainage system, construction of bathroom for ladies, installing street lights, metaling roads, giving children health supplements, free medical camps, providing 24x7 pure UV drinking water for 1500 people living in jhuggi cluster, various workshops on cleanliness and tree plantation drives on regular intervals.
For the last 10 years we have been running a free school "Spreading Smiles Gyan Kendra" in the slums for their children wherein 150 kids are provided free holistic education, meals, uniform, clothes, stationery, medical aid, educational tours, computer training, sports, music classes by 5 paid teachers and 5 non-teaching staff in a rented accommodation in Nathupur DLF Phase 3 Gurugram, Haryana.

Most of the children are first generation learners. The school is running successfully into its 10th year because we deliver a holistic curriculum that is a balance of modern education and ancient wisdom. The gender ratio in this school is 50:50 which is significantly higher than the National average. 90% of our students stay in the school against a national average of 37%. Underprivileged children from extremely poor background are brought from rag picking to mainstream education system. Physical and mental health of otherwise under nourished children has improved drastically due to grooming and our Free Mid-Day Meals Project. Feedback from parents and community is very positive.

Kajal
Competent Kajal, daughter of a single mother a housemaid and garbage collector, initially studied at SSGK for three years. Family moved to West Bengal where she continued schooling. At 16, while in class 10 she was married off to a construction worker who opposed further studies. She divorced him, rejoined school, cleared her Boards excellently and shifted to Bangalore with her parents. She pursued diplomas in computers. Now working with an interior decorator firm, earning Rs 18,000 per month, Kajal continues further studies. Spreading Smiles supported her financially throughout her studies till she started earning.
Garima Joshi
Garima Joshi, 14, born with a cleft lip and palate, has undergone 10 corrective surgeries but continues to shine as a brilliant topper. A Class 9 student at Vidya School, Gurugram, she excels in academics, writes short stories, composes poetry, and is a talented dancer. She has received numerous awards and certificates for her achievements. The only child of homemaker Kalpana and driver Vipin, Garima is determined to pursue her dream of becoming a doctor, showing resilience and dedication in overcoming challenges while striving for her goals.
Objective
Our objective is to get our students admitted to various mainstream schools viz. DPS, Amity, Pvt Public and Govt schools and till date we have admitted more than 350+ students in these schools and also sponsor their meals, studies, fees, stationery, transport etc
Mid Day Meal Project
"Spread A Smile" Mid Day Meal Project, an initiative of Spreading Smiles to provide daily free meals to 150 poor children studying in Spreading Smiles Gyan Kendra, Nathupur for the last 10 years. The food is a balanced nutritious diet that includes pulses, cereals, vegetables, fruits, milk etc
Fire Inicident
There have been three fire incidents in the past 9 years, wherein we provided these poor families with shelter, meals, dry ration, clothes, medical help by setting up relief camps helping them to rehabilitate.

During COVID-19
During COVID19 pandemic since April 2020 every month we provided dry ration kits to 600+ families for 5 months. We provided daily cooked meals once a day to 1500 people from April 2020 to Sept 2020 and to 200 children till date. We have also organized 3 free COVID19 testing camps in the basti itself during this period and also 2 Free COVID Vaccination Camp for 600 slum dwellers. Till date we are providing dry ration kits every month to 19 covid orphans.
During COVID-19 Online Mode
Our school was closed since March 2020 due to the pandemic, but we were providing daily free online classes to more than 50 students from the basti by providing Android phones to all the needy students. Few of them were in their hometown and attended classes.
